Making hummus for the first time.
I’ve always liked the idea of healthy snacking but have never quite gotten round to exploring making them at home. Since I’m currently exploring vegan options for regular meals, I thought I would give hummus a try.
The recipe I followed was fairly simple:
- 1 can of chickpeas
- a few cloves of garlic
- half a lemon juice
- sesame seeds, sesame oil and olive oil
- paprika, pepper and salt to taste
Usually, I don’t have the habit of measuring out ingredients when I cook because I much prefer winging it and adjusting recipes by trial and error. This time, I added too much garlic and sesame oil for the amount of hummus I made so it was a tad too garlicky and tasted of sesame oil. However, it wasn’t bad and I’ve enjoyed it with carrots and cucumbers. I am considering going oil free in my diet so perhaps I will try another version without any oil to see how it tastes. One can of chickpeas makes a whole lot of hummus so it lasted quite a while. I’ll definitely be making more of this in the future.
