One thing. What’s your passion?


I’ve been spending some quality time with a few people lately and have had the privilege of being privy to their thoughts on life serving God and leading people. It’s interesting to listen to the layman’s thoughts on the subject, rather than an expert in the field. Sometimes, reality gets grittier the closer you get to ground zero. Obviously, there is no better teacher than learning the lesson yourself.

One thing I’ve discovered is that one gets nowhere without passion and direction. I believe that in the Christian walk, complete pursuit of a relationship with our Heavenly Father is so all-encompassing that even in times when you can’t put your finger on the direction your life is taking, there is assurance. A steadfast knowledge that God’s plans for you are good and meant to prosper you (Jeremiah 29:11).

As a human being (and last I checked, I am indeed very human), I don’t fancy living with uncertainties and not knowing what the future holds. Yet, we are better off that way – living simply and learning to trust our Master. The fullness of life on earth in all its peaks and valleys is not something we can handle all at once.

I’ve learnt not to spend my time pursuing other things that don’t ultimately satisfy my soul. Admittedly there are times when situations and interests usurp God’s place in my life, but I’ve set my mind to refocus every time that happens.

Search for God. Unearth Him. Delight in His ways. Meditate on His Word. Then everything else you’ll ever need is yours. It’s a tough call, but the treasures found in His presence are great. He is your reward.
